INT. THE ALTAR OF A WEDDING

HIM & HER:

I do.

PRIEST:

Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace!

VOICE:

STOP!

Voice is revealed to be Groom’s in-laws / Bride’s parents.

IN-LAWS:

Jessica, you cannot marry this man, he… he…

Montage of DIY fails: Fitting a door upside down, hanging a picture wonkily, bursting a pipe.

JESSICA/BRIDE:

Mum… He set up this whole wedding!

As if on cue, the altar they’re standing under collapses.

INT. FAMILY BBQ

PETER flipping sausages

FATHER:

You know, that fence Peter did looks a little loose, I can take a look if you need.

DAUGHTER:

No, dad it’s fine, Peter’s done a great job with the garden.

Montage of shoddy craftsmanship: A shed looking like it's about to cave in, artificial grass that’s really uneven, decking with a floorboard loose.

As if on cue, the neighbour’s dog gets through the fence and takes off with the sausages.

NARRATOR:

Wickes - Prove the in-laws wrong.

INT. FAMILY DINNER

FATHER IN-LAW in a disapproving tone:

So... I see you’ve decorated the place...

Montage of areas around the room with shoddy craftsmanship: A picture hanging wonkily, a table with one leg propped up by books, peeling wallpaper.

HIM:

Dad...Aimee’s worked really hard on that...

In-laws with disapproved faces, they all go back to eating.

A few seconds later, the books slip out from under the table leg and all the food slides off the table.
